MY DISCIPLINE PHILOSOPHY

I believe that taking care of and raising children is one of the most important jobs a person can ever have. Children are the future generations. My role as a Professional Nanny is to always make sure children are safe, happy, secure, and disciplined. For discipline, I believe in using the time-out method and natural consequences.
I give warnings, appropriate to incident and age and then enforce a time-out for the amount equal to age, i.e. 3 years-old gets 3 minutes. I don’t believe in debating with children. I believe in handling discipline in a matter-of-fact manner and establishing consequences for actions. I also believe that discipline should be handled in a manner that allows children to keep their dignity and self-worth in tact. I do expect manners to be used when necessary and will hold myself to the same expectations, i.e. Please, Thank you, and Excuse me.
As children get older, I believe in consequences that fit the action. Most importantly, I believe the only effective discipline is done with consistency. I also believe that in order for children to prosper they need a lot of love, attention, and affection. The goal should always be to use positive energy whenever possible. Such as, pointing out how proud you are of them even for the smallest of accomplished tasks.
I aim to bring up children with a strong self-esteem, substantial character, a healthy self-respect, as well as respect for others, and hopefully a good sense of humor.


WORK EXPERIENCE
December  2012- present: Currently responsible for looking after two young children (4years old and 14 months), one of them being a baby in a Canadian family. Being totally focused on the children, organizing and implementing their daily routines and helping then to grow, learn and develop.

May 2011- November 2012 Office worker at a pharmaceutical company

September 09-May 2011 Responsible for looking after one child, 12 months old when I first got the job, tasks similar to the above. At the same time, in the afternoons, I was working as a part time baby sitter to two children, brother and sister stimulating them with creative play, cooking dinner, washing them putting them to bed etc

Duties for all above children: Responsible for the safety, wellbeing, care and development of young children. Getting the older child ready in the morning for going to nursery school. Reading to and with the children. Attending any medical appointments or social events with the children. Helping children with after-school activities like homework. Being disciplined with the children when required. Washing and bathing children as well as changing nappies. Providing healthy meals and snacks for the children. Providing supervision and constant care to children. Stimulating children to read and be active. Playing with the children and taking them shopping & to the park. Tidying up children's bedrooms and play areas. General housekeeping duties like cleaning, washing up and ironing. Planning and organising age related activities. Preparing bottles of milk for babies.

KEY SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
Experience of assisting first time mothers on maternity leave. Confident and imaginative with constructive play and age appropriate activities. A driver with full clean license and own car. Proactive, very creative and have fantastic ideas to keep children occupied.
